# Letting people know you're using Soda

You may need to tell the people on your call that Soda is listening. The law differs by country and state, and some places require everyone on the call to agree. This page isn't legal advice.

Soda doesn't join the call or tell anyone it's listening, so telling people is up to you, and it's important.

## What to say

Something like this, at the start of the call:

> "I use Soda that listens to my calls, it automatically tracks my conversations and keep notes. It allows me to focus on our discussion. Is that OK with you?"

If someone asks what Soda keeps, see [What Soda captures](/docs/privacy/what-soda-captures).

## If someone says no

[Pause Soda](/docs/calls/pause-soda) for the rest of the call. Nothing from a paused stretch is kept.

If Soda already heard part of the call, [delete the call](/docs/memory/your-memories#delete-a-memory) once it's over.

To stop Soda listening in an app altogether, [turn that app off](/docs/calls/choose-platforms).
