Soda's meeting notes work without you doing anything. You get on a call, Soda captures what's discussed, and when you're done you have a structured summary ready. That's always been the core of how it works and that hasn't changed.
But we kept hearing two things from beta users.
First, people loved how accurate Soda's notes were but sometimes wanted to edit them. Maybe a section needed rewording, or they wanted to add their own read on how the conversation went. Something a pure summary wouldn't pick up on.
Second, some users genuinely liked taking their own notes during meetings. They didn't want Soda to replace that. But they also knew their shorthand was only useful while the context was still fresh. A week later, "check pricing w/ Sarah" means nothing to anyone, including them.
Edit anything
Every note Soda generates is now fully editable. Rewrite a section, restructure the layout, drop in your own commentary. The notepad supports Notion-style components so you can format things properly rather than working around a fixed template.
Shorthand that fills itself in
This is the part we're most pleased with. You can open a blank notepad during any meeting and jot rough notes as you go. When the call ends, Soda enriches your shorthand with the full meeting context.
So you write something like "quote about pricing" and Soda knows which moment you mean. Pricing might have come up five times throughout the call, but because Soda is aware of when you made each note, it matches your shorthand to the right part of the conversation. You don't need to write longhand or worry about capturing everything. Just the bits that matter to you.
In practice
You're on a discovery call and the prospect says something about their internal buying process that feels important. You scribble "buying process, 3 stakeholders, legal involved." After the call, Soda expands that into the full context of what was discussed and who was in the room when it happened.
You wrote six words. The note reads like you spent ten minutes on it.
